Portrait of John Weikel by Samuel F. DuBois, signed and dated 1850. Weikel was a prominent resident of Philadelphia and Doylestown, PA., as was artist DuBois.  The background image of a couple on horseback is a very interesting aspect and appears to have been sourced from a 1844 Philadelphia "Fashion Plate."
 Oil on canvas, 30" x 25".

"Freeing the Bird", signed and dated verso by noted Bucks County, PA. artist Jonathan K. Trego 1851.
